At Hummingbird OT, our mission is to help grown ups provide the best possible care for children. We do this by providing comprehensive skills training to the adults who support kids. We optimize both child and parent mental health.

Why think like an OT?
Your staff need support
Do you ever find yourself asking repeatedly for your staff to set up their programming? To use common sense with their kids? To follow the protocols you so carefully explained during staff training? Did you find yourself wishing your staff would just DO something?
Generations Z and Alpha report higher rates of anxiety than previous generations, especially at work. They also approach their work from a different perspective than Millennials and Gen X. Both of these factors can create conflict throughout the summer. Conflict in turn increases staff's anxiety and activates the stress response system.
When the stress response system is activated for too long, it can shut down parts of the brain responsible for executive functioning, creativity, and problem solving... All important skills for doing well at camp!
Of course they're struggling to do their jobs; parts of their brains are switched off! How do we switch their brains back on?
Supervisors need to start providing support for staff's nervous systems.
